Middle School Teacher Resigns After Parents Call Police Over Inclusive Reading Assignment

Parents in Illinois allegedly called the police on a middle school teacher when she assigned "This Book Is Gay" to children as part of a reading project, forcing the instructor to resign.

Twenty years into her career as a teacher, Sarah Bonner claims that she is only one of many educators who are under pressure from certain parents to exclude students who identify as LGBTQ from their classes.

She declared, "I think the day we lose up on public education is a really sad day. "I feel like this specific incident has given me more motivation to act," she said.

She told ABC News that she and her students celebrated independent Reading and a love of books on Reading Mondays.

According to her, students can discuss what they enjoy reading and what they are currently reading.
